How To Use A Teleprompter
Teleprompter Training DVD - Learn How To Properly Use A Teleprompter
What is a teleprompter -- Define Teleprompter
A teleprompter is a device that when
installed in
front of
a camera lens reflects
computer generated text. Because the
camera focuses past the teleprompter glass in front of its’ lens
the text is invisible to the camera, but visible to the
talent. This enables the talent to speak without notes and
appear to have memorized the remarks.
Teleprompter Tips:
1. Rehearse before the time the teleprompter videotaping is scheduled. Save time, save
money in video production costs.
2. When rehearsing speak the words out-loud. Spoken words sound differently then written
text reads. It’s also a good time to check any difficult pronunciations.
3. On the day of the video shoot rehearse with the teleprompter operator while the Director of Videography
finalizes the lighting.
4. Remember that it’s you that dictates the pace of the teleprompter. The prompter operator will vary
the speed of the teleprompter to match your speed.
5. Be natural. Remember to use pauses, inflections and hand
movements.
